Making Links in Posts from iPhone in WordPress

Posted on October 1, 2007

In my last post I was complaining about not being able to add links to posts from my iPhone. I was thinking about it again this morning (among the other limitations of the iPhone) when I remembered “hey, I know HTML”. Yes, that is right, I can hand code the link (oh the horror!).

So here it goes, a link to somewhere – digg.com.

Wow, that was some work. I thing a popup would still be nice. The iPhone does support JavaScipt afterall.

My iPhone 1.1.1 Update Went Smooth – installer.app is Gone

Posted on September 28, 2007

I decided to take the leap and update my iPhone to the latest 1.1.1. update. I knew that it was going to kill installer.app and all of the goodies that I had down loaded with it. That wasn’t small price to pay though as I am convinced that all those gadgets were slowing my phone down. It was really starting to get frustrating.

The first thing I did after the update was to make a phone call to make sure at least the phone worked. Calling 611 had the automated teller blaring in my ear – I guess they really did improve the speaker volume. From there I decided to see what other goodies awaited me.

I noticed the new iTunes icon. I checked it out but probably won’t be buying anything from there since I usually just rip from CD’s. If did want to buy online I would probably go wit Amazon instead since there MP3 downloads are cheaper, a better bit rate, and DRM free.

The one thing I do notice is that my iPhone seems a whole lot zippier. I really do think that installer.app and its gadgets were really slowing it down. I am not sure if I will reinstall it when it is update since it is nice to have it working fast again.

Anyway, I’m updated. I will probably update my wife’s iPhone tonight.

Mobile Admin Plugin for WordPress is Awsome

Posted on September 27, 2007

It finally happened. Someone came out with a plugin so that you can comfortably blog from your iPhone. Jared Bangs and Dan Cameron put the work in and now I can finally blog from anywhere.

With the plugin I can assign categories, manage comments and a whole bunch of other things also. There are only 2 things that it does not do which I wish that it did. One is that I was I could insert links and two is that I wish I could insert pictures.

Oh well, this is version 1.0 so hopefully they can trick the iPhone into

We have what’s know as a green belt in the back of our office building. It is a pretty common occurance to see deer when you are walking to your car in the evening.

Posting a Photo from the iPhone

Well I found out the hard way that WordPress does not support posting photos via their post by email function.

I did a little searching and found the Postie plugin that allows you to do so ( sorry I cannot provide a link – the iPhone doesn’t have a way to do so).
Anyway, this is cool because now I can blog from anywhere.
Now to go get it setup on my other blogs…

Posting From My iPhone

Posted on September 18, 2007

Well it took a little bit of black coding magic but I finally got this
blog setup to post to from my iPhone.

Yep I am one of those people that ran out and paid $500 for an iPhone.
I was fortunate though as I bought it in the time frame that allowed
me to get a refund of $200 so it only really cost me $300.

That may seem like a lot of money – and it is – but the phone is
really nice. I especially like the Safari browser since you can view
regular websites with it. I only wish that it had flash support though.

Anyway this is the first of many to come from my iPhone.
